Concept & ContextA poetic documentation of the contemporary apocalypse, inspired by the myth of Salome and Oscar Wilde’s play. Emerging at the intersection of rave, theater, and dance, it explores global crises through ecstatic transformation—where art becomes a collective ritual of renewal. Amid wars, regimes, and displacement, the performance speaks from a threshold time: the old order is spent; the new has not yet taken shape—spoken of everywhere, yet not manifest in its fullness. We live at the hinge of eras, between aftermath and anticipation, torn between a thirst for truth, the pull of control, and the need to live and to love. We take the central sign of the myth—the dance—perhaps one of the most charged dances in cultural memory, and transform Salome’s body into a collective one, turning her dance into the personification of today’s transforming reality. Salome is no longer a person or a girl, but a process of changing eras — a journey from premonition to destruction and new beginnings.Genesis and MethodSalome Decadence Rave Opera exists as an evolving project, constantly undergoing metamorphosis. Its path mirrors the movement of time, catastrophe, and inner transformation. The project began in 2019 as a dramatic solo performance in the genre of structural improvisation, dedicated to the premonition of a new era and the anticipation of the apocalypse. Later, the piece expanded to three performers: on an empty stage, three actors embodied all the roles of Salome, moving between points of meaning and discovering new trajectories each time. Every experience became unique — never to be repeated. In 2020, when the pandemic made real the very phase of expectation that the play had foreseen, the project underwent its first metamorphosis. The theatrical action was transposed into music: the accumulated stage experience began to transform into sonic landscapes. Thus emerged the idea of a rave-performance in which music unfolds according to the laws of dramatic structure, and the spectator finds themselves at the center of the composition — experiencing the process of global transformations through their own body.In 2022, following Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine, the creators went into exile. The musical fabric of the project continued to evolve in displacement, absorbing the metamorphoses of time and experience. Between 2022 and 2024, Salome took on various site-specific performances, accompanying the nomadic path of creators:— “Van Through the Apocalypse” (Los Angeles),— “Rave in a Coworking Space” (Montenegro),— “Rave at Oscar Wilde’s Grave” (Paris),— Performance at the nomadic art festival “Rubezh”, whose presentations coincided with the protests in Tbilisi.«“Half of our volunteers participated in the exhibition first and then joined the protests afterward. The theme of the exhibition resonates deeply with what’s happening outside on the streets of Tbilisi — the same struggle of light against darkness, life against death… That’s why the motto love is stronger than death, echoed at the end of the opera, put a final touch on the exhibition, giving the event a sense of closure. Moreover, everyone present felt a glimmer of hope,” And other places such as Almaty or Erevan; At that time the digital version of the performance was also created — an online space where the music and its listening instructions live. It is a form of performance experienced one-on-one, where each listener chooses what will become their stage and scenography — the streets, the home, or any other space. Thus, Salome continues to exist as an intimate experience of presence, where theatrical action unfolds within the listener. Where the theatre and rave is builded just for him — regardless of geography. Today, the project enters a new phase: returning from its nomadic and digital journey to the theatrical context, it becomes a triptych. The first part is premiering in 2026 (RAVE SALOME). The second and third in 2027.
